That's what Jack McCall (Eddie Murphy), a selfish, fast-talking literary agent must now learn to do - live without words. Brian Robbins' film A Thousand Words tells the story of how one man is forced to stop talking in order to learn how to truly communicate with his wife (Kerry Washington), family and friends. ABOUT THE CAST EDDIE MURPHY (``Jack McCall) Eddie Murphy is the most commercially successful African-American actor in the history of the motion picture business, and is one of the industry's top-five box-office performers overall. At the tender age of 49, Murphy is on the very short list of actors who have starred in multiple $100 million pictures over the past three decades, from ``Beverly Hills Cop to ``Daddy Day Care. He is also the voice of Donkey in the Oscar(R)-winning animated film ``Shrek and its sequel, ``Shrek 2, which is the top-grossing animated film of all time. Murphy won an Annie Award and earned BAFTA and MTV Movie Award nominations for his performance in the first ``Shrek, and recently reprised the role of Donkey in the final installment of the hugely successful franchise, ``Shrek Goes Fourth. Murphy will next be seen in the heist comedy, ``Tower Heist in which he serves as executive producer and co-stars with Ben Stiller. Murphy began his career as a stand-up comedian 25 years ago. She garnered critical acclaim for her roles in The Last King of Scotland opposite Forest Whitaker for which she was nominated for ``Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture at the NAACP Image Awards in 2007, The Dead Girl opposite Marcia Gay Harden and Brittany Murphy, and in Lakeview Terrace starring opposite Samuel L. CLARK DUKE (``Aaron) Hot Springs, Arkansas native Clark Duke is the co-creator of the web comedy series, Clark and Michael, which he wrote, directed, produced and starred in alongside his friend and comedy partner, Michael Cera. This landmark series, which lampooned their characters' efforts to write & sell a television show, was named to many Best Of lists in 2007, including Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and many, many others. Clark and Michael continue to enjoy massive popularity all over the world and have established Clark Duke as a creative force to be reckoned with for decades to come. A talented musician who has launched a Los Angeles based band, Clark also continues his work on a diverse slate of projects as a writer, actor, director and producer. Clark's work has taken him from film to TV to new media to publishing, with multiple projects in development and production. ALLISON JANNEY (``Samantha) Displaying astonishing versatility with a wide range of roles, Allison Janney has taken her place among a select group of actors who combine a leading lady's profile with a character actor's art of performance. Janney recently co-starred in the much anticipated feature film "The Help" based on the best selling novel of the same name. For their extraordinary performances, the cast won Ensemble awards from the Screen Actors Guild, National Board of Review and the Broadcast Film Critics. One thing's for sure... once you've seen Witherspoon you completely understand why he has earned the reputation as one of America's funniest dads. His scene-stealing roles in Boomerang, Little Nicky, House Party, Vampire in Brooklyn, and I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, made him one of the most memorable funny men in America. NORMAN GOLIGHTLY (Producer) Norman Golightly is combining his extensive career in the film industry with a re-ignited passion for social education and change. He is completing work on his first non-fiction book, tentatively entitled ``When I Do Good - an account of his personal journey traversing the worlds of opulent Hollywood and poverty-stricken Africa, revealing his own life lessons supported by his research into the biology and psychology of altruism. Norman spent a large part of 2010 and 2011 focused on assisting the Cura Rotary Home in rural Kenya - the orphanage is home to over fifty orphans who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. His volunteer efforts with the home were anchored by two, one-month stays at the orphanage. Inspired by his desire to turn his passion for photography into an enduring program at Cura, Norman started the organization, ``Kenya Spare a Camera, which allowed first world patrons to donate their used digital - the resulting photographs taken by both Norman and the children of Cura have been well documented world-wide and their sales have become an ongoing source of revenue for the home. His work with Cura has also resulted in the implementation of an advanced accounting system as well as the generation of a self-sustaining agricultural program benefiting not only Cura but also the surrounding Kenyan community. In the film world, Norman is currently completing work with Academy Award(R) nominated director Brett Morgen on ``Can't Stand Losing You, a musical documentary about the band The Police, through the eyes of its guitarist, Andy Summers. The bulk of Norman's film work came during his twelve year run with Nicolas Cage and his Saturn Films banner. Norman joined Saturn Films as Vice President in 1997 and was named President and Partner within four years of working at the company. In his extensive tenure, Golightly produced over a dozen pictures for Saturn Films, quickly escalating its prominence in the industry with a diverse development slate including such in demand talent as Will Smith, Frank Miller, 50 Cent, Milos Forman and Darren Aronofsky. Not only familiar with feature films, Norman served as Executive Producer of the television series ``The Dresden Files, the well-received series which aired on the Sci Fi network. Hailing from Canada and Florida, Norman attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he received a Bachelor of Science in Economics, with a concentration in Entrepreneurial Management. While at Penn, he was an actor, writer and director in the ``Mask and Wig Club, the university's all-male comedy troupe and the country's oldest collegiate comedy ensemble. Upon graduation, he started his career in the motion picture talent department at CAA, then was lured away as a development executive and writer for Ben Stiller prior to his joining Saturn Films. In his spare time, he is an avid traveler and scuba diver. Much of his time locally is spent as a proud supporter of Food on Foot, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the poor and homeless of Los Angeles with assistance in the transition from the streets to gainful employment. Norman has also spent many years volunteering as a mentor to inner-city youth through the renowned Fulfillment Fund. SHARLA SUMPTER BRIDGETT (Producer) In 1996 Sumpter Bridgett started her entertainment career at Tollin/Robbins Productions as a talent booker for the Nickelodeon series "All That". The show featured the biggest celebrity names and music talent of its time including: The Spice Girls, NSYNC, Britney Spears and Chris Farley. Her next projects at Tollin/Robbins were ``Kenan and Kel," "The Amanda Show," "The Nick Cannon Show" and "Cousin Skeeter." She also worked as an executive on the feature films GOODBURGER, VARSITY BLUES and BIG FAT LIAR. In 2002 she became President of Production at Tollin/Robbins Productions, overseeing the company's overall deals with Disney, Dreamworks and Paramount. Sumpter Bridgett developed and executive produced a slate of films for the company, including "Wild Hogs" with Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy, and "Coach Carter," starring Samuel L. Jackson. In 2007 Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins disbanded Tollin/Robbins and Sumpter Bridgett joined Brian Robbins as his producing partner and President of Production of his new company Varsity Pictures. Together she and Brian produced the upcoming "A Thousand Words" starring Eddie Murphy for DreamWorks/Paramount through their Varsity Pictures banner. In addition, they produced the TV movie ``FRED for Nickelodeon, which holds the distinction of being the highest rated TV movie of 2011. While running the day-to-day operations of Varsity Pictures for the past 4 years, Sumpter Bridgett also developed and sold three series and retooled Disney's ``Sonny With A Chance featuring Demi Lovato into ``So Random! which premiered to 4.1 million viewers. In addition to ``So Random!, Sumpter Bridgett served as executive producer on two Nickelodeon series: ``Fred: The Show and ``Supah Ninjas as well as Spike's ``Blue Mountain State. A native of Los Angeles, Sumpter Bridgett earned a degree in Business from USC and currently resides in the Los Angeles area with her husband, Pardé, and their daughters, Hunter and Hendrix. STEPHANIE DANAN (Producer) Stephanie Danan began producing while still a student at Boston University where she studied film. She produced and sold her first feature, SQUEEZE, to Miramax while a junior in college. In 2003 She partnered with French director, writer, actor Alain Chabat and launched Wam Films in Los Angeles. She signed a first look deal with Focus Features and Universal Studios and became instrumental in the import of French remakes to Hollywood. She sold over 25 remake adaptations and as a result she has collaborated and developed projects with Gore Verbinski, John Madden, Steve Knight, Larry Charles, Nicole Holofcener, Michel Gondry, The Duplass Brothers, and Nanette Burstein among others. Stephanie developed A Thousand Words with Steve Koren based on an original idea by her partner Alain Chabat. Simultaneously, Stephanie has launched a clothing brand called Co, which is currently sold at Barneys New York as well as other high end stores across Europe and Asia. The brand uses short narrative films to sell and market the collections, including a recent collaboration with Thomas Bangaltere from Daft Punk. Stephanie continues to divide her time between the film and fashion worlds. STEVE KOREN (Writer) STEVE KOREN began his career writing monologue jokes for comedians such as David Letterman, Dennis Miller, and Kevin Nealon. This led to a staff job writing for SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE where he earned several Emmy nominations working alongside comedic talents such as Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Molly Shannon and Will Ferrell. Steve eventually left the late night show for the primetime sitcom world where he worked as a writer/producer on the award-winning SEINFELD show. Among his well-known episodes are ``The Serenity Now, ``The English Patient, and ``The Abstinence. Following SEINFELD, Steve spent several years as a writer/producer creating television sitcoms for actors such as Steve Carrell, Valerie Harper and Ron Liebman. In the feature world, Steve's screenplay credits include ``A NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY, ``SUPERSTAR, ``BRUCE ALMIGHTY, ``CLICK. He also worked as a writer/producer for ``GROWN UPS and ``JUST GO WITH IT. His most recent release is ``A THOUSAND WORDS. NED BASTILLE (Editor) Ned Bastille, A.C.E.'s long working relationship with director Brian Robbins includes the films VARSITY BLUES, HARDBALL, and THE SHAGGY DOG. He also received an A.C.E. Eddie award for his work on LOOKING FOR RICHARD, directed by Al Pacino. Bastille has worked in television as well: He edited the pilot A.T.F., directed by Dean Parisot and the pilot for SpikeTV's BLUE MOUNTAIN STATE, as well as episodes of Ryan Murphy's series, POPULAR, and episodes of HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET and LA DOCTORS. Bastille's earlier editing includes a music video for director Gus Van Sant, as well as award-winning documentaries with Bill Moyers and CBS News. He has been working in film since the 6th grade when he filmed an animated salt and pepper-shaker battle in his suburban Boston home. Pepper won.
